How EGR Works; Oxygen and fuel sent to the cylinder combustion chamber burn at very high degrees, NOx gas can form at such high degrees. This leads to increased emission. The Engine Brain frequently opens and closes the EGR valve at certain intervals by interpreting data such as engine loading status, sensor values. When the EGR valve is open, some of the gas coming out of the exhaust manifold is sent back to the combustion chamber with the help of EGR. This reduces the oxygen content in the combustion chamber and reduces the combustion temperature significantly. At a lower combustion temperature, NOx gases cannot form as much as before and emissions are thus reduced. When the engine is fully loaded, the EGR valve is closed by the engine brain and stops sending exhaust gas to the combustion chamber because performance is required from the vehicle. In this way, the combustion chamber, which is completely filled with oxygen, produces more power. The EGR valve can become contaminated by the exhaust gases passing through it and a blockage can form inside. The EGR system should be cleaned regularly to remove soot, time, rust and other factors that cause EGR malfunctions. If dark black smoke is coming out of the exhaust pipe, the engine misfires or does not start, the engine temperature increases, if it persists, engine damage, fuel consumption increases rapidly, misfires caused by the accelerator pedal, the symptoms indicate that it is time to clean an EGR system.
